Great article! I have almost exactly the same picture as you do of the bridge in Besalu. Ive just finished writing a post on my blog about how to improve your photography. In reply to Minta Boggs. Hi Minta! I have a post on gear coming up in this series, however the short answer is to take a look at the mirrorless systems out there at the moment. It depends on your budget of course, but something like the Sony A6000 would be a huge step up from a point and shoot :)

This is spot on about photography. You just laid out the basics in one article, that I had to take three classes in highschool for. These are the fundamentals of good photos. Love the railroad tracks photo. I personally did a whole series of railroad tracks in my town…love them! 😀

Hi Matt. This is great! This is a challenge my missus and I have when we are travelling. Thanks for providing a nice guide!
I had one question though. The tips on how to take the pictures are great, but could you also give some tips on how to improve the photo’s ‘Wow factor’ by using filters. We tend to use instagram or the ones that are available on the Iphone 6.

Very good points. I would also add that editing is very important especially if you take your photos on a dslr. Understanding your camera is another good point. I see people with dslrs who have no idea how to use them on a daily basis. There is a manual that comes with the camera. Reading it might be very helpful 😉
